India !ndia Festival this year was the Guest theme at the Travel Expo 2014 in the Messe Zentrum, Luzern from 31st Oct - 2 Nov. 2014. Ambassador Lokesh from Bern was our chief guest at the opening ceremony and officially opened the festival by lighting the traditional lamp and bringing greetings from India to the people of Luzern in the presence of invited guests and the press and media from Luzern. Joining him in the ceremony were Mr Sandeep Shukla, India Tourism Paris, Mr Peter Plan, Organizer Travel Expo Luzern and Dr Tushar Guha, founder Nrityanjali Dance Institute, Mumbai.
The around 23,000 visitors to this festival of three days were welcomed by the dancers of the Nrityanjali Dance institute from Mumbai lead by the founder Dr. Tushar Guha. Yoga, Dance, Sari, and Spice workshops were a big attraction for the visitors to the India !ndia stand at the Travel Expo.
The Nrityanjali Dancers took the audiences through the various regions of India by presenting the folk dances from these regions. The colourful local costumes and the rythmic music left the audiences awestruck.
Every day from 10 in the morning till 6 in the evening the visitors could experience India. They were able to indulge themselves in beautiful handmade Jewellery, Ayurvedic body care products and Shawls and textiles from all over India, They could taste the Tandoori chicken, Palak paneer, Dal Makhani and much more from the kitchens of the Tandoori Indian Restaurant in Luzern.
The India Tourism Stand gave ample Information and motivation for the people to venture into travelling to India. Also to promote travel to India local Swiss travel agencies like Indi Tours and Insight Travel were also present at the India !ndia stand.
The local radio TV and newspapers made the presence of India !ndia as the guest theme at the Travel Expo more visible.
India made a mark by its colourful and informative stand at the Travel Expo for the people of Luzern who all the time experience the presence of Indian tourists arriving in their city. This time they could experience India at their door step.
