Pravasi Bharatiya Samman awarded to Dr. Shachi Gurumayum in Berne on 15 August, 2021


Ambassador Monika Kapil Mohta presented the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award medal and certificate to Dr. Shachi Gurumayum, NRI from Switzerland who received this honour for his achievements in the field of Bio-tech Agronomy.

Dr. Shachi Gurumayum has been awarded the Pravasi Bhartiya Samman Award for Bio-tech Agronomy. Dr. Shachi has nearly two decades of R&D and general management experience across the Globe spanning the chemical, oil & gas and agriculture sectors. He has received multiple recognitions for this work over the years including ‘Young Person of the UK Chemical Industries Association 2003’. He founded the MaolKeki Foundation which is building social enterprises based on soil testing, last–mile health and an improved veg value chain in order to catalyze positive development in Manipur, primarily in areas of agriculture, education and healthcare. Dr. Shachi has also worked in rural parts of many African countries to enable smallholder farmers to adopt better practices and technologies to improve yield and quality. He sits on the advisory boards of multiple organizations focused on agriculture in emerging markets such as Lady Agri (Brussels), Sahel Consulting (Lagos) and the Expert Review Committee, Food & Agriculture Benchmark of the World Benchmarking Alliance (Amsterdam)
