Commemorating the 156th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on 1st Oct 2025

The Embassy of India celebrated the 156th Gandhi Jayanti on 01 October 2025, at Quinne, Berne, with a special event where Amb Kumar highlighted Gandhiji’s timeless messages of peace, truth, and non-violence. The guests and dignitaries, including Amb Kumar, paid floral tributes to the Mahatma. To mark Gandhiji's 156th birth anniversary, the Mission collaborated with Swiss artist, Ms. Kidist Degaffe, for a portrait exhibition inspired by his life and timeless principles. Amb Kumar also expressed his appreciation for Ms. Degaffe's artwork, which beautifully captured Gandhiji’s life and ideals, reflecting the enduring legacy of his values.

The celebration also included a special screening of the film 'The Making of the Mahatma', which explored Gandhiji's early life and formative years. The film, cherished by the Indian diaspora, Swiss friends, and the diplomatic community, underscored Gandhiji’s global relevance and his unwavering path of truth and non-violence.
