Phase III of Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC)

Ministry of Education, Government of India has launched Phase III Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC) which is one of the flagship programmes of the Ministry of Education announced in October, 2018 and aims at improving the research ecosystem of India's Higher Education Institutions by supporting joint research proposals and facilitating academic and research collaborations between Indian Institutions and the foreign institutions to jointly create knowledge that can address and offer solutions to problems of national and/or international relevance.

During lndia's G20 Presidency, "Strengthening research and promoting innovation through richer collaboration in education and training" was one of the four priority areas under the Education Working Group. The Leaders Declaration has "Reaffirm India’s commitment to promote open, equitable and secure scientific collaboration and encourage mobility of students, scholars, researchers, and scientists across research and higher education institutions." Digital transformation, Al and other critical and emerging technologies, sustainability and green transitions are some of the areas that have been prioritized under the G20 deliberations. These are sectors which require the world to work together and come up with sustainable solutions.

Proposals are invited from eligible Institutions/Universities from Switzerland under Phase III of Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC).
