"India: The Flavor of Chai & Change" a special two-day event 17-18 April '26, focussing on India held at Palazzo Civico, Lugano, organised by the Mission in collaboration with City of Lugano had a promising & elegant opening as the Mayor of Lugano along with Ambassador inaugurated the joint-collaboration between India in Switzerland & Liechtenstein and Lugano City Administration. Blending the warmth of chai with forward-looking conversations, the ceremony set the tone for a dialogue that bridges cultures, businesses, ideas, academics and innovation. From tradition to transformation, it’s inspiring to see Lugano city host a platform where perspectives from India and Swiss come together to shape new possibilities. It was attended by the representatives of Swiss businesses, academia, Indian diaspora, friends of India.

The Mayor of Lugano highlighted the immense potential for deeper cooperation between India and Swiss—especially with Ticino and Lugano as key partners. Ambassador underscored India’s strengths as a dynamic collaborator and rapidly transforming economy and pointed to the growing partnerships already shaping ties between India and Ticino, Switzerland. "

The official opening session featured remarks by Mayor of Lugano, Michele Foletti & Ambassador alongside distinguished partners shaping dialogue & collaboration across sectors. Swiss Fair-Trade Association, Chamber of Commerce of Ticino, Franklin University Switzerland & Lugano Other Movie Festival — explored the India - Swiss intersections in sustainable trade, culture gastronomy people-to-people connect.

The two-day event was concluded seamlessly integrating economic dialogue, cultural exchange, and gastronomy into a single, immersive platform. It garnered strong appreciation from attendees and received coverage on DD India.
