Ambassador had productive discussion with the Economics and Finance Ministers of Uri Canton, 03.06.2026

On 03.06.2026, Ambassador was honoured to be hosted by the Economic Minister, Mr Urban Camenzind and Finance Minister of Uri Canton, Switzerland, Mr. Urs Janett.
Ambassador was accompanied by the two ministers during his briefing visit to the Uri canton Parliament. Uri, the 'Birthplace of Switzerland' is recognised as one of the three founding cantons of the Swiss Confederation. This canton is the powerhouse for Switzerland contributing significantly to Switzerland's energy supply, primarily driven by hydropower.
Ambassador had productive discussions with the Economics and Finance Ministers on strengthening India - Switzerland cooperation, with a focus on trade linkages between India and Uri. Uri offers a unique blend of history and innovation. Over a lunch featuring local cuisine, they also explored opportunities for collaboration in technology and trade, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.
