Invitation to the Indian diaspora in Switzerland

The Embassy of India, Berne, is pleased to invite members of the Indian diaspora in Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein to participate in the 19th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention, scheduled to be held in Kolkata, West Bengal, from 7 to 9 January 2027.

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is a biennial flagship event that brings together members of the Indian diaspora from across the world to connect with their roots, exchange ideas and strengthen their engagement with India. The upcoming PBD-2027 aims to provide an interactive and enriching platform for diaspora members to connect, participate and contribute to the growing ties between India and its global community.

Arrangements for participants

To facilitate participation and enhance the overall experience, the Government of India, in coordination with the Government of West Bengal, is working on a range of arrangements for delegates, including:

• Accommodation: A list of hotels and home stays across different categories is being identified and vetted for quality and security. Accommodation will be available on a self-financing basis, with details expected to be published on the official PBD website.
  

• Local transportation: Complimentary shuttle bus services are planned between the airport, designated accommodation facilities, key junctions in Kolkata and the PBD venue.
  

• Meals: Arrangements are being made for lunch and dinner for participants at the PBD venue on all three days of the Convention.
  

• Tourism and cultural experiences: Complimentary shuttle services to popular tourist attractions in Kolkata and specially curated tourism packages to destinations in and around the city are being planned.
  

• Travel connectivity: Efforts are being made to facilitate air connectivity to Kolkata around the Convention dates.
  

Further details regarding registration, accommodation, transportation and the programme will be shared as they become available. The official PBD website is expected to be launched shortly, by end of October 2026.

The Embassy encourages Indian diaspora associations, student organisations, professionals, entrepreneurs and other members of the Indian community in Switzerland to participate in PBD 2027 and to disseminate information about the Convention through their networks.
