The Embassy of India in Berne, in association with the Swiss Indian Fine Arts Association (SIFAA), successfully organized Yuv Mahotsav-2025 in Zurich. The event brought together members of the Indian diaspora, particularly youth, to celebrate India’s rich cultural heritage and showcase their creativity, talent, and community spirit.

This day-long festival came alive with enthusiastic performances by diaspora youth. A wide array of Indian classical and folk dance performances, Classical and Folk vocal and instrumental performances reflected the vibrancy of India’s cultural traditions and their enduring relevance across borders. The program highlighted culture as a powerful bridge between India and Switzerland, strengthening people-to-people connections.

Representing the Embassy at the event, Mr. Anoop Dhingra, Minister (Commerce) & Head of Chancery, addressed the gathering as Chief Guest. In his remarks, he emphasized the significance of tradition, creativity, and community in strengthening India’s global presence. Mr. Dhingra congratulated the young performers and contributors for their dedication and applauded the diaspora for remaining deeply connected to their roots abroad while inspiring the next generation of global citizens. As an encouragement, Embassy also distributed certificates of appreciation along with books on India to all the performers.

A key highlight of the day was the launch of the first issue of “Threads of India”, a diaspora youth-led magazine conceptualized and produced by Team SIFAA. Released by the Embassy of India, the 1st edition of the magazine features an insightful interview of Ambassador Mridul Kumar. The magazine provides a unique platform for diaspora youth to express their creativity, passion, and cultural contributions.

The event also included an interesting a panel discussion on “Bridging Cultural Roots and Modern Identity”, where diaspora youth from the SIFAA Magazine Team shared their perspectives. Their thoughtful interventions underscored the important role of diaspora youth in nurturing cultural roots while embracing modern identities, thereby contributing to stronger Indo-Swiss cultural ties.

The event concluded with a colourful fashion walk by diaspora kids, featuring traditional stast costumes from more than 15 Indian states. YuvMahotsav 2025 stood as a proud celebration of diaspora youth leadership and creativity, reaffirming the role of culture as a unifying force. The Embassy applauded SIFAA and the diaspora youth for their initiative and continued collaboration in promoting cultural exchange and friendship between India and Switzerland.
