Embassy of India organized Hindi Diwas & Gandhi Jayanti - 2025 celebrations in Berne on 09 October 2025 with enthusiastic participation from diaspora as well as students of Sunday Hindi School Vevey. 

Ambassador Kumar addressed the gathering on the occasion of HindiDiwas & GandhiJayanti, emphasizing the enduring relevance of Hindi as a link language and Mahatma Gandhi’s timeless message of truth, peace and unity. Prof. George van Driem, noted linguist from Bern University, graced the celebrations as Chief Guest and spoke on the linguistic diversity of  India and the global importance of Hindi as a language of heritage and unity. 

Participants took to stage and presented rhymes, excerpts from the renowned revolutionary Hindi poet, Rashtrakavi Ramdhari Singh Dinkar’s ‘Shakti aur Kshama’, Kathak performance, short speeches and a rendition of Mahatma’s favourite Bhajan, ‘Vaishnav Jan To’ & ‘Raghupati Raghava’ by young diaspora members.

A lively Spot-Quiz on Mahabharata rounded up the celebrations, engaging the audience with India’s epic heritage. Ambassador Kumar felicitated the talented performers for their wonderful contributions to the celebration.
