The Embassy of India, Berne, in association with the Swiss Indian Fine Arts Association (SIFAA), successfully organized Chaitra Mahotsav 2026 on 9–10 May 2026 in Adliswil, Canton Zurich. The festival brought together members of the Indian diaspora and Swiss community to celebrate India’s rich cultural heritage and strengthen people-to-people ties between India and Switzerland. Representatives of Stadt Adliswil also participated in the event, reflecting the growing integration of the Indian community within the region.

The two-day festival featured a diverse programme of Indian classical music, dance, and intellectual discussions. Highlights included Bharatanatyam performances by Dr. Sathya Narayana Raju and students of PDC Gurukul, a violin recital by Vidushi M. Nandini, Geet Ramayan by Vidwan Shreyas Joglekar, Dhrupad vocals by Pandit Amit Sharma, and Carnatic music by Vidwan Vivek Sadasivam. A panel discussion on the theme “Dharma of an Artist” explored the role of art in preserving traditions while fostering peace and mutual understanding in contemporary society.

The festival also showcased cross-cultural collaboration through a fusion performance by the Lukas Mantel Trio, blending Indian spiritual traditions with Swiss jazz. A special highlight was the rendition of Vande Mataram by Vidwan Vivek Sadasivam, commemorating the 150th anniversary of India’s national song.

In addition to the cultural programme, the event featured a dedicated One District One Product (ODOP) lounge and a traditional food and handicrafts bazaar, promoting India’s rich artisanal heritage.

During the closing ceremony, the Embassy thanked the Diaspora Engagement (DE) Division, Government of India, for its support and appreciated SIFAA and the Indian diaspora for their continued contribution to strengthening cultural ties and friendship between India and Switzerland.
