Embassy of India, Berne organized the 8th International Day of Yoga celebrations in Berne, Switzerland on 21 June 2022 . The theme of IDY 2022 was Yoga for Humanity. The event was jointly inaugurated by Mr. Sanjay Bhattacharyya, Ambassador of India to Switzerland & Liechtenstein & Mr. Alec von Graffenried, Mayor of Berne. The event was held at Waisenhausplatz, an iconic location in the center of city Berne.

A unique and innovative programme, ‘The Guardian Ring’ has been envisaged for this year’s International Yoga Day, 2022. It is the first time that it has been conceptualized in the manner of a ‘Guardian Ring’ - streaming feed from different countries starting from East, the land of the rising Sun, at 3 AM IST and subsequently moving westward and Embassy of India, Berne was part of “The Guardian Ring.

Yoga sessions by local yoga teachers also formed part of the 8th International Day of Yoga celebrations.

The event was attended by local dignitaries, Indian diaspora, Friends of India and yoga enthusiasts from local yoga schools.
