Re-issue of International Driving Permits (IDP)

Indian nationals who hold International Driving Permits (IDPs) are allowed to drive in foreign countries which are signatory of Geneva Convention on Road Traffic, 1949.  

As per Notification No. GSR 15(E) dated 07 January 2021 issued by Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, Indian nationals living abroad may apply for fresh issue or re-issue of IDP through the portal www.parivahan.gov.in with effect from 15 Feb 2021.   The Notification is attached for information.  On receipt of application through the portal, the licensing authority, on verification of the documents, shall issue the IDP and shall courier it directly to the address of the applicant.

Indian Applicants under the consular jurisdiction of Embassy of India, Berne may avail the services for re-issue of International Driving Permits through the portal www.parivahan.gov.in

Such applicants will be required to obtain a receipt/certification from the Embassy of India regarding verification of their names, Passports, Domestic Driving Licenses and Expired IDPs.   After obtaining the above mentioned receipt/certification, applicants can directly apply for re-issue of IDP on the above portal by uploading the requisite documents.    For availing the services of the Embassy, applicants may fill up the Miscellaneous Consular Service Form and make payment of applicable fee to the Embassy.
