KNOW INDIA PROGRAMME 2018

Know India Programme of the Ministry of External Affairs is a three-week orientation programme for Diaspora youth conducted with a view to promote awareness on different facets of life in India and the progress made by the country in various fields e.g. economic, industrial, education, science & technology, communication & information Technology, culture. KIP provide a unique forum for students & young professionals of Indian origin to visit India, share their views, expectations & experiences and to develop closer bonds with the contemporary India.

The Government of India will organize the following 2 Know India Programme from September 2018 to November 2018.

2. Important aspects about the Programme :

  • Understanding of India’s political system, economy, society, and developments in various sectors etc. Visit to places of historical, cultural, religious importance.
  • Familiarization art, music and culture of India.
  • Visit to industrial sites.
  • Visit to a village.
  • Interaction with non-profit organizations.
  • Meetings with senior leadership/officials in India.
  • Visit to a select state in India for 10 days.

3. Eligibility 
This programme is open to youth of Indian origin (excluding non-resident Indians) between the age of 18-30 years as on the first day of the month in which the programme is expected to begin 
Minimum qualification required for participating in KIP is graduation from a recognized University /Institute or enrolled for graduation. 
The applicant should not have participated in any previous KIP or Internship Programme for Diaspora Youth (IPDY) Study India Programme of MEA or any other programme organized and paid for by the Ministry of External Affairs and any other Ministry/Department in Government of India or a State Government in India.

The applicants should be able to speak in English, should have studied English as a subject at the High School level or have English as the medium of instruction for undergraduate course.

4. GUIDELINES
Applicant has to submit applications online for the above KIP by 15 July 2018.

Participants are accorded local hospitality e.g. boarding / lodging and internal travel inside India and Air tickets from country of residence to India and back. Selected candidates would be required to pay 10% of total Airfare.

All KIP participants should obtain an international travel and medical insurance policy for their visit to India.
Participants should check about weather conditions in India before travel. Stay in rural area is part of the programme where air-conditioned accommodation is not available.
