About Us Indian community in Switzerland

1. There are about 16,500 Persons of Indian Origin and Indians residing in different parts of Switzerland.  Most of them are professionals, engaged in the fields of Information Technology, pharmaceutical industry, research and health sector (para-medics).  There are also a few employed at UN Offices in Geneva and two other prestigious Swiss institutes viz., Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), Zurich and Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne (EPFL). Several Indians living in Switzerland represent major Indian software companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Mahindra Satyam and other multi-national companies like ABB, Alstom, Novartis, Nestle etc.

2.There are about ten Indian Associations in various parts of Switzerland with Cantonal jurisdiction including Indian Association Zurich, Indian Association Berne, Bharatiya Association of Berne, Indian Association Geneva. All the Indian Associations in Switzerland actively organize Independence Day, Republic Day functions and festivals like Diwali, Holi, Onam, Baisakhi, Navratri etc. These Associations also arrange annual Gala programmes where Indians and Friends of India meet and celebrate the festive occasions of India. Besides the above, there are three regional Associations and also Indian Students Association based in Zurich coordinating various activities amongst youngsters from India. There are about 400 Indian students pursuing Hotel Management and other professional courses with various prestigious Institutes in Switzerland. Several premiere Indian  educational institutes have students exchange programme with Swiss institutes like ETH, Zurich and EPFL, Lausanne.
